Hello, I'm Richard, a product design engineer with experience working on award-winning and patented products across a range of different sectors, including architecture, retail and engineering design.

 

I have a passion for creating functional, smart and problem solving products, taking concepts from a sketch on a page to a real life product that can be manufactured and serves a real purpose, without compromising aesthetics and design.

Born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland with a Masters degree in Product Design Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. During my degree I was lucky to take part in an exchange program to Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane to study on the B.Des Industrial Design program.

I have experience working with leading global brands such as Apple, Jaguar Land Rover, Dyson, Kvadrat, Prolicht and Artemide to deliver high quality design and development work for consumer goods and brand experiences rolled out globally.

Proven experience in concept generation, injection moulding design and rapid prototyping, coupled with an in depth knowledge of CAD programs including Solidworks and SolidEdge, surface modelling with 3DS Max and rendering using Keyshot. I am able to quickly and accurately convey design ideas to customers with the most applicable medium.

 

In January 2022 I returned to Australia to continue my career as an product designer based in Melbourne.
